Disabling diagnostic tracking is perfectly ok on windows 10 as it invades your privacy also. Most of the time it is the sole cause of high disk usage in windows 10 PC. Please follow the steps given below to disable diagnostic tracking in windows 10. Step 1 – Open command prompt as admin.
Every computer has a hard disk. Generally, once you’ve installed a hard disk you don’t have to worry about it for years. For instance, I have a ten-year-old 160GB Hitachi mechanical hard drive the still works just fine. However, that’s always not the case. From time to time, you need to check your hard disk health so that you can back up important data as soon as possible and avoid any potential data loss. To help you with that, here are some of the useful hard disk testing tools you can try.

SeaTools is a quick and free hard disk diagnostic tool by Seagate that is specifically designed to find any faults within your hard disk. When installed and used, the software tool can do a variety of tests like short and long self-tests, advanced tests, read and write tests, gather S.M.A.R.T data, etc. SeaTools also comes in a bootable version which is quite useful if you can’t boot into your system.
Though the user interface looks dated and the software is created specifically for Seagate hard drives, it works perfectly fine with any hard disk. To use the software, select the hard disk from the list and then select the test type from the “Basic Tests” drop-down menu. Depending on the test you select, it can take some time to complete. Once, the test is done, you will see the result under the drive status section.

This post will describe the replacement of a failed rootvg disk.
In short the procedure is the following:
1. unmirrorvg rootvg hdisk0
(savebase -v)
2. reducevg rootvg hdisk0
3. rmdev -Rdl hdisk0
4. diag (safely remove hot swap device/drive), physically remove the old disk
5. insert the new disk (diag – hotplug task)
6. cfgmgr -vl scsi0
7. extendvg -f rootvg hdisk0
8. mirrorvg -m rootvg hdisk0
9. bosboot -ad hdisk0
10. bootlist -m normal hdisk0 hdisk1
11. bootlist -m normal -o
(savebase -v)
2. reducevg rootvg hdisk0
3. rmdev -Rdl hdisk0
4. diag (safely remove hot swap device/drive), physically remove the old disk
5. insert the new disk (diag – hotplug task)
6. cfgmgr -vl scsi0
7. extendvg -f rootvg hdisk0
8. mirrorvg -m rootvg hdisk0
9. bosboot -ad hdisk0
10. bootlist -m normal hdisk0 hdisk1
11. bootlist -m normal -o
In more detail the procedure is described below starting with the errpt logs indicating a drive problem.
In the errpt output we can see that there is some problem with a disk:
Lets have a detailed look at the first error:
Disk Diag 1 610 Hp
Having a look at the disk using lsvg and lspv commands indicates that the disk is in a missing state
An attempt to read from the disk using dd failed. So it really looks like the disk died. (actually it could also be that there is a problem with the controller/cable, but in this scenario it is the disk.)
In order to replace the disk we have to do the following:
Now, remove the disk from the VG and also remove the disk from the system using rmdev, afterwards use diag to safely remove the physical disk from the system
For the safe physical insertion of the new disk also use the diag command.
Now we need the system to detect and identify the drive, put it into the VG,mirror the drive and install BOS on the BLV and set the boot order.
And finally check we are done.
